Specialist Presentation by Ralph Schraivogel

December 02, 2016 Event date: 19.00

He is one of the most well-known contemporary Swiss poster designers. His works are visually distinctive as a result of the complex structural patterns and the handling of images. Strong visual concentrations show a maximum affinity to the topic with unique refinements. His works are distinguished by their immanent power of interpretation and reduction to essential contents.

Ralph Schraivogel will give us insights into the design process and his thinking, which again and again lead to one-of-a-kind solutions.

The event is structured in three parts. After the specialist presentation as the main act, which will be rounded off afterward with an aperitif, begins a half-hour tour of the Sitterwerk, where new exhibits will be presented and the spaces explained.

The speech by Ralph Schraivogel will be in German.

Registration required (limited seats)

The graphic designer Ralph Schraivogel shines as a result of his particularly precise and diligent way of working. After his studies at the Kunstgewerbeschule in Zurich, he opened his own firm, also in Zurich. His preferred means of expression is the poster. He has created works for numerous Swiss cultural operators: In particular his many years of collaboration with the Filmpodium in Zurich, with the Museum für Gestaltung in Zurich, and with the CinemAfrica film festival have resulted in highly effective and compelling graphic identities that have had a lasting influence on Swiss graphic design. His posters have received numerous international awards and are represented in important collections such as the Museum of Modern Art in New York. Schraivogel has been a member of the Alliance Graphique Internationale (AGI) since 1995.

In 2016, the Swiss Confederation honored Schraivogel’s unique position in Swiss graphic design, the expressive and consistent identity of his works, and the great influence of his posters on the image and communication of many cultural operators in Switzerland with the Grand Prix Design. Schraivogel already received the Swiss Design Prize in 1995, 1997, and 2000.
