«The Dynamic Library»: English Publication about Organizing Knowledge in the Sitterwerk

«The Dynamic Library» was published by Soberscove Press in mid-October 2015. We are taking the publication of the English translation of «Archive der Zukunft» as an occasion to invite interested individuals to an evening of brief presentations followed by a discussion with the speakers on February 25, 2016. Further events are planned.

-on February 14 at LA Art Book Fair
-on March 14 at the Metropolitan New York Library Council
-on March 15 at the Swiss Institute in New York (short summary here)

The publication brings together English translations of essays about dynamic order in the Sitterwerk that were published in-house by the Sitterwerk in 2013 under the title «Archive der Zukunft.» «The Dynamic Library» includes a new chapter by Felix Lehner, co-founder of the Sitterwerk. In it, he looks at the background of the Art Library and the beginnings of the dynamic order, and at the art book collector Daniel Rohner, who played a significant role in shaping the principle of order in the Sitterwerk.
The book launch took place on Saturday, November 14, 2015, at «The Arts Club of Chicago,» et al. with Doro Boehme, Head of Archives & Special Collections of the Flaxman Library, Marc Fischer, artist, and Joseph Grigely, Professor of Visual & Critical Studies at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. «Archive der Zukunft» was published in connection with the symposium of the same name. In November 2011, scholars, librarians, and designers discussed issues, examples, and insights as well as new trends in organizing knowledge over two days in the Sitterwerk. More about the symposium.
