Jackie Wullschlager presents Josephsohn in the exhibition «The Discerning Eye»

November 12, 2009 to November 22, 2009

The exhibition «The Discerning Eye» has taken place annually each November since 1990 in the Mall Galleries on Trafalgar Square in London. With this group exhibition, the organizers make a special contribution to the debate on the position and purpose of art in society. This year, six prominent figures from different areas of the art world are invited to shape the exhibition: two artists, two critics, and two collectors, who are completely free in their selection of artists and works – the only condition is that the works be no larger that 20 inches in size.

Jackie Wullschlager, chief art critic at the renowned business paper the «Financial Times» this year represents, along with Julius Bryant, the position of the art critics. The exhibition shows Josephsohn in a young and quite specific contemporary context: alongside works by Edmund de Waal, Emily Young, and Armen Eloyan, among others. The independence of the individual guest curators is underlined by the fact that the works that each of them has brought together are presented in their own room as a self-contained group.
