Limerick, Ireland
Josephsohn in the EV+A Group Exhibition

March 13, 2010 to May 23, 2010

The ev+a exhibition that takes place annually in Limerick is considered in Ireland to be the most important event in the field of contemporary art: A guest curator of international standing is invited to present a personal selection of contemporary positions in the section «Invited». These are included in counterpart to the group exhibition «Open» – a selection made by the same curator from the contributions submitted by Irish artists in various fields.

Under the title «Matters», the Swedish architect Elizabeth Hatz shows her personal homage to international contemporary artistic work in an impressively concentrated exhibition on five floors of a newly completed shell of a building in the center of the charming small city on the edge of Europe from 13 March to 23 May 2010. She has combined three larger works and various relief sketches by Josephsohn with drawings by the architect Peter Märkli – a reference to the exceedingly fertile artistic friendship for both the sculptor and the architect that has connected the two over many years. In interesting dialog with this combination in the same large room are the watercolor drawings and paintings of the Irish artist Michael Kane, whose works, like those of Josephsohn and Märkli, are characterized by an astoundingly powerful immediacy.
