Sculpture at Schoenthal

Josephsohn in the context of the former Schoenthal Monastery

November 03, 2007 to April 27, 2008

From 3 November 2007 to 27 April 2008, a small but representative group of Josephsohn's works could be seen in the interior and exterior spaces of the Romanesque Schoenthal Monastery, which was secularized during the Reformation. Since 2000, the Sculpture at Schönthal foundation has committed itself wholly to sculpture and its dialogue with the landscape, and places sculptural works by various contemporary artists in the picturesque surroundings of the former monastery. Since the spring of 2007, a half-figure by Josephsohn has stood next to the Romanesque portal of the former monastery church. Subsequent to this placement, John Schmid, as initiator of the project Sculpture at Schoenthal, mounted a small Josephsohn exhibition in the interior.
