Works by Hans Josephsohn at the ArtZuid Sculpture Exhibition in Amsterdam

May 22, 2015 to September 22, 2015

Over the summer months, it will be possible to see four works by Hans Josephsohn in the public space in Amsterdam. They are part of the ArtZuid sculpture exhibition, which this year is taking place for the fourth time in Amsterdam-Zuid, a borough in the south of the city. Sculptures will be presented at eighteen public spaces along a 2.5-kilometer-long route leading over two boulevards (Apollolaan and Minervalaan) to the new business district of Zuidas.
In addition to three large half-figures and one reclining figure by Josephsohn, sculptures by Rebecca Warren, Frank Stella, Georg Baselitz, John Chamberlain, and Per Kirkeby, among others, will also be exhibited.

This year’s, the fourth, edition of ArtZuid, is curated by Rudi Fuchs and Maarten Bertheux. The aim of their exhibition is to contribute to bringing more life to the borough and to sharpen the public’s awareness of their surroundings, which are shaped by the 'Plan Zuid' urban planning design created by the architect Hendrik Petrus Berlage at the beginning of the twentieth century.

With the participation in ArtZuid, Josephsohn’s oeuvre is once again being shown in Amsterdam after a period of more than ten years. Rudi Fuchs, the former director of the Stedelijk Museum, gave him the first important international exhibition of his work there in 2002.
