New President of the Foundation

The year 2019 also begins with a change of the President of the Sitterwerk Foundation. Rainer Zigerlig, who has been a member of the management committee of the board of trustees since the establishment of the Sitterwerk in 2006 and has been its president since 2012, would like to gradually hand over responsibility. We are extremely grateful to the former head of the cantonal tax office of St.Gallen for his unswerving commitment, for all the knowledge that he put at our disposal, and for the humorous and human way in which he accompanied and supported us at all times. We are pleased that Rainer Zigerlig will remain a member of the management committee for the time being.

As his successor, the Sitterwerk has been able to obtain Martin Leuthold. The trained embroidery designer started working at the Jakob Schlaepfer textile company in St.Gallen in 1973, where he was the creative director and member of the management board as of 1989. Prior to his retirement in the spring of 2018, Martin Leuthold was already involved in a wide range of exhibition and culture projects; currently, among others, at the Textilmuseum St.Gallen and at the Origen Festival Cultural in Riom.

With his great passion for materials and broad expertise, Martin Leuthold has always cultivated a close relationship with the Sitterwerk and especially with the Material Archive. We are therefore particularly pleased to be able to welcome Martin Leuthold as the new President of the Foundation.
