New Yorker Sculptor in the Guest Studio
In the spring 2007, Anne Chu worked in the Studio House, during which time she produced an erect bear measuring around two meters in size. She carved the highly symbolic animal out of lime wood using above all a power saw. Finally also plaster and wax were used for the creation of the surface. On the basis of the model produced in this way, a casting in white copper as well as a second version in polyurethane, for which the colors were determined by the artist herself directly during the process of production, were then realized in the Kunstgiesserei. The two castings in different materials now form the two parts of a unique artistic work, which was afterwards shown at Art Basel.
