Cécile Hummel (*1962) lives and works in Basel. Spearheaded by her interests, she travels and conducts research, sometimes over several months, around the Mediterranean and along the Silk Road.
Her work consists of a sort of archive that she compiles, and, based on its contents, creates and combines its information, images, and texts with contemporary objects and events.
During her stay in the guest studio, she spent a lot of time in the Kunstgiesserei, where she drew the large machines with colored pencils on thin paper. In the work produced, she positioned the contemporary objects correspondence with the creations of past histories and cultures.
