Change in the management of the Art Library
After exactly 8 years, Roland Früh hands over the management of the Sitterwerk Art Library. During his time in the Sittertal, he has imparted the treasure of books to countless guests and visitors, linked it to the materials, guided them through the neighbouring institutions Kunstgiesserei St. Gallen and Kesselhaus Josephsohn, light-footedly organized brilliant, profound exhibitions, publications and discussion formats. He has expanded the book collection – in homage to Daniel Rohner – and shaped it with his own focal points such as graphic design, contemporary art and curiosities. Roland's genuine interest in and profound knowledge of St. Gallen's book history had led him to the Art Library, so he was one of the first at all to use the Art Library and feed the Werkbank. We thank him for the exciting, always inspiring collaboration and are sure that he will also make a great deal of difference in his new role as subject librarian at the SIK Library in Zurich.
We look forward to Eveline Wüthrich, who will take over on October 1st. She studied Art History and Curatorial and Critical Studies. To date she directed the art book fair I Never Read, Art Book Fair Basel, which she founded in 2012 together with a small team and which will continue to be held annually in Basel. With the fair and in her curatorial work, Eveline Wüthrich creates social spaces in which artistic content becomes accessible to a broad public. She will also use this approach and her large network at the Sitterwerk to combine contacts and different areas of knowledge and find suitable visibilities for them. We are curious to see how she will put the collected knowledge in the art library into new contexts and let the communities and neighbourhoods flow into the Sitterwerk.
