A talk with Maria L. Felixmüller at the Art Library
on Monday, 20th of April, 6 pm
The conversation with the artist and media theorist Maria L. Felixmüller forms part of the anniversary series ‘A Library is a Growing Organism’. In her book «Produktive Unordnung» [Productive Disorder], she explores the connections between historical cabinets of curiosities, the working methods of cultural historian Aby Warburg, and the internet. This demonstrates that knowledge arises not only through strict order, but also through associations, collecting, and the conscious acceptance of complexity. In conversation with Maria L. Felixmüller, we would like to reflect on how the concept of ‘dynamic order’ can be applied to collection strategies. The evening will be complemented by a presentation of books that have emerged from on-site research since the Sitterwerk Foundation was established.
The project «A Library is a Growing Organism» at the Art Library is part of the 2026 anniversary celebrations.
