In August and September 2012, Anastasia Katsidis (*1974) is the guest artist in the Studio House of the Sitterwerk.
Her impressions of different cultures and societies as well as the mechanisms in them are manifested in her works. Anastasia Katsidis creates installations and objects that often have to be used by one or multiple individuals. In them, she focuses less on technology than on physical strength and intentionally integrates viewers. Viewers then, for instance, have to use a huge fan machine—inspired by drawings by Leonardo da Vinci—and are able to blow air on another person with it.
In addition, she also creates everyday seeming objects that she, however, alienates or assigns a new function. For an art in architecture work, Anastasia Katsidis developed a drinking fountain in the form of a red hydrant, which was produced in the Kunstgiesserei in 2010/11 and is today located in the Pädagogische Hochschule (College of Education) in Lucerne.
Anastasia Katsidis studied art in Basel and Lucerne and lives and works in Zurich and Cairo.
