The Dent Blanche in Styrofoam
The Kunstgiesserei rents out the project studio for the realization of a large-dimensional commission: a work by Stefan Banz for an exhibition in the Kunstmuseum Lucerne.
Stefan Banz commissioned the Kunstgiesserei to produce a ca. 6×4×2m model of the mountain Dent Blanche out of Styrofoam. The space in the guest studio offered ideal conditions for this work.
With the aid of a digital map of contours projected by video beam, the details of the mountain were enlarged, drawn on Styrofoam plates and then cut to size. The transitions were later finely modeled and the two-part model of the mountain prepared for transport.
