Peter Dew stayed in the guest studio from 4th November 2019 to 31th January 2020.
In the studio it is possible to see both older and more recent works, which Peter Dew has gently put in relation to one another. Growing up in England flickers up: religious socialization, patriotic ceremonies, and the Sex Pistols on the Thames. More recent examinations also flow into them, for instance, the discovery of a “Double Cross,” a flaw, at Magdenau Abbey, where Dew cunningly intervened in the interior space in the group exhibition Des einen Glanz, des andern Glut.
The situation in the studio calls to mind a cosmic structure that conceals many personal experiences and formative thoughts. In dialogue with Dew, it becomes clear that the work is not yet “finished,” but instead constantly finds itself in the process of becoming. Site-specific, interpersonal, random events continue to influence the development of the work.
“He conceives his universe associatively and develops the most audacious connections with playful delight.”— Matthias Kuhn
